Many crew members join seasonally and return annually, gaining new skills and some eventually owning their own hotel barges after years of service. Please watch our video below to learn more about us.
The Captain is responsible for the vessel, crew, and passengers, requiring energy, leadership, communication, and knowledge of the vessel and cruise area. They must ensure the vessel's good condition, oversee crew duties, and handle paperwork such as logs and accounts. Fluency in French and a French canal passenger license are recommended. The role demands a dynamic, flexible individual with a passion for barging and hospitality, mechanical skills, and initiative.
The Pilot navigates the vessel through canals and rivers, manages mechanical checks, and performs maintenance. A relevant driving license, mechanical aptitude, and energy are essential. Fluency in French and English is preferred. Training for a license is available for candidates without one.
The Tour Guide is a communicator with a love for history, culture, and gastronomy. They must be confident driving the van, maintaining it, and knowledgeable about the region. Fluency in French and English and a clean driving license are desired.
The Chef prepares regional and international cuisine, manages menus, and maintains kitchen hygiene and safety. Relevant culinary training and certificates are required. Responsibilities include shopping, stock management, and cooking for guests and crew. Fluency in French (if applicable) and English is preferred.
The Host/Hostess ensures guest comfort, manages interior housekeeping, and provides excellent customer service. Responsibilities include serving meals, cleaning, laundry, and maintaining the interior. Organizational skills and a friendly demeanor are essential.
