Job summary

St Catherine’s Hospice Ltd. in Crawley is seeking a passionate Chef to join our Catering Team, leading kitchen operations and preparing nutritious meals for patients, visitors and staff. Your work will bring comfort, dignity and moments of joy through thoughtfully prepared food.

This part‑time role (30 hours per week) operates on a rota with shifts from 7:30am–3:30pm or 11am–7pm and alternate weekends. Salary ranges from £20,656.77 to £21,188.54 per annum, with DBS checks and UK work eligibility

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a professional catering or kitchen environment.
• Must be authorised to work in the United Kingdom; visa sponsorships not offered.
• This role is subject to a Standard DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present fresh, nutritious breakfasts, lunches, suppers, snacks, and refreshments for patients and visitors.
• Support hospitality and catering requirements for meetings, events, and hospice functions.
• Lead and organise kitchen activities during your shift to ensure a smooth and efficient service. Manage stock levels, place orders, receive deliveries, and maintain effective stock rotation.
• Maintain the highest standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and kitchen cleanliness.
• Support, supervise, and encourage Catering Assistants and Volunteer Kitchen Assistants.

The salary for this role is between £20,656.77 to £21,188.54 per annum for 30 hours per week

This post is offered on a part time permanent basis working 30 hours per week. Shifts are worked on a rota basis between 7.30am to 3.30pm and 11am to 7pm, rotating alternate weekends. T his role offers a great opportunity to achieve a healthy work-life balance, with every other weekend off .
