Qualifications

Chartered Town Planner Location: Suffolk

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established and growing independent planning consultancy based in Suffolk. Known for their commercially focused and pragmatic approach, this respected firm works closely with landowners, developers, and housebuilders to deliver high-quality planning solutions across East Anglia and beyond. Due to continued growth and project demand, they are now seeking a Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI) to join their collaborative and forward-thinking team.

Responsibilities
  • Lead on planning applications, appeals, and strategic site assessments.
  • Provide expert advice on planning policy, land promotion, and development potential.
  • Manage client relationships and represent them at committee meetings, hearings, and inquiries.
  • Produce high-quality reports and planning documentation for submission.
  • Support junior planners and contribute to the ongoing growth of the practice.
Qualifications
  • MRTPI chartered with a minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of the English planning system, particularly in rural and regional contexts.
  • Confident communicator with excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience in either consultancy or local authority settings (or both).
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Suffolk or surrounding areas. Hybrid and flexible working options available.
Day-to-day
  • Lead and manage planning projects.
  • Liaise with clients and stakeholders.
  • Conduct research and analysis.
  • Prepare and present reports.
  • Mentor and support junior team members.
