Hays are working in partnership with a Northern Ireland Civil and Structural Engineering consultancy who are recruiting a Chartered Structural Engineer to be based in Belfast. The Chartered Structural Engineer will be responsible for coordinating the structural design of building structures from inception to the completion of construction. You will oversee design work on various materials and liaise with architects and other members of the design team.
We are looking for a Chartered Structural Engineer with membership in either the Institution of Civil Engineers or the Institution of Structural Engineers, preferably both. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of post-graduation experience, including 3 years of design office experience in building structures and site experience as Resident Engineer or with a contractor. Knowledge of the JCT Form of contract and Quality Assurance systems and quality management is essential, along with experience of working in multidisciplinary design teams and implementing Safety Plans in accordance with CDM Regulations.
The candidate should be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite - Excel and Word and have an awareness of recent developments in engineering design and research. Strong analytical and numerical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to use initiative in problem-solving are a must. The candidate should also be able to prioritise tasks and manage projects using imagination, drive and enthusiasm.
The ideal candidate should possess good negotiation and interpersonal skills, be able to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team, be client-focused, and have good organisational skills to ensure deadlines are met. The candidate should also be safety conscious and maintain confidentiality.
