The Vacancy

JOB TITLE: Incorporate - Chartered Civil Engineer

LOCATION: Flexible

Binnies, an RSK Group company, is seeking talented Civil Engineers to join our newly formed Water Services team. You will work on a broad range of exciting water and wastewater projects for major water utility clients.

We offer opportunities for candidates who are recently Chartered or Incorporated, as well as experienced professionals eager to take on supervisory roles over multi-discipline teams on large projects. We support your career development and skill enhancement.

As a Civil Engineer, you will deliver a varied portfolio of work for clients including Anglian, Southern, Severn Trent, and Thames. Projects range from strategic studies and feasibility exercises to detailed design and construction, including initiatives like Thames Water’s £3.5 billion SESRO project and Anglian’s £350 million Cambridge Waste Water Treatment Plant Relocation.

Our offices are nationwide, and we support flexible/hybrid working arrangements. Applications from locations around the UK are encouraged.

About the Role

You will organize and undertake civil engineering activities within multi-disciplinary teams, potentially mentoring junior engineers. Responsibilities include:
  • Conducting strategic studies, feasibility work, and designing water utilities projects, including water and wastewater treatment, conveyance, and dam safety.
  • Producing calculations and reports to support designs.
  • Engaging directly with clients to understand needs and develop solutions.
  • Creating business cases and proposals for project funding.
  • Collaborating with construction partners to enhance safety and understand construction processes.
  • Ensuring designs consider buildability, sustainability, H&S, and environmental standards.

About You
  • Approaching or at Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the ICE or equivalent.
  • Experience in the water sector is not essential; transferable technical skills are valued.
  • Desire to mentor and support junior engineers towards Chartered or Incorporated status.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated team player.
  • Commitment to delivering sustainable water and environmental solutions.
