Job description

The Shop Supervisor supports the day-to-day operation of a Churches Trust retail shop, ensuring excellent customer service, smooth operational efficiency and the achievement of sales targets. The role involves supervising volunteers, maintaining merchandising standards, handling cash and upholding the mission and values of the Churches Trust in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily shop operations
  • Provide excellent customer service and promote a positive shopping experience
  • Assist with stock management, merchandising, and visual displays
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, safeguarding, and cash handling procedures
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised retail environment
  • Promote the charitable aims of the Churches Trust through effective retail practices
Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to handle money and keep basic financial and administrative records.
  • Physical capacity to move heavy bags of clothes etc
  • Ability to work alongside and support volunteers
  • Communication skills, with the ability to relate to a wide range of people and resolve problems with fairness.
  • A flair for fashion, knowledge of brand labels and pricing levels.
  • Dependable, reliable and honest with a confident and enthusiastic manner.
  • Able to work in a very busy and energetic environment or able to work alone and with initiative.
  • Good IT knowledge in Word, basic Excel and using Outlook.
  • Retail, or relevant service sector experience.
  • Experience of managing a team of volunteers.
  • Experience of using social media platforms to promote the shop/stock and experience of online marketplace sites, such as Vinted.
  • Experience in merchandising/ window dressing.
