A charitable organization in Leeds is seeking an enthusiastic Retail Supervisor to manage the Secondhand Superstore. Emmaus Leeds is an established charity supporting people affected by homelessness. We are a secular organisation that is part of a worldwide movement that exists to fight poverty, homelessness and other forms of social exclusion.
Emmaus Leeds is made up of a community of people, including our companions (residents of Emmaus), local volunteers, a small staff team and a wide range of supporters. From our 26-bedroom residential community in Leeds city centre, we provide people with a home, food, facilities and tailored support to move on from homelessness for good. To sustain the support offered at our community, we generate the majority of our charity’s income through our social enterprise and Secondhand Superstore.
Your main responsibilities will be the day-to-day running of our Secondhand Superstore, working alongside a team of companions, ensuring a high standard of customer service is provided and income targets are met.
Ideally, you will have experience in a retail environment, particularly in charity retail, along with experience in supervising or leading a team. We need someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to motivate companions and provide a positive experience for customers. You’ll also have an eye for merchandising, good organisational skills and prior knowledge of an EPOS system will be an advantage.
We need a good team player who can work effectively under pressure, whilst supporting a diverse group of people. You’ll also have strong administration and time management skills. and the personal resilience to work with a challenging client group. Common sense, a practical mindset, and a good sense of humour are essential.
The working days for the Charity Retail Supervisor will be Tuesday to Saturday (37.5 hours per week). The salary for this role is £27,500 per year, with annual reviews, plus a generous pension package and 25 days of annual leave.
