Job summary

Falkirk Council is seeking a proactive Chargehand Cleaner to join our Facilities (Soft FM) team, supporting Bantaskin Primary School within the Falkirk area. The position involves leading a small cleaning team during term time, with 13.5 hours per week across Monday to Thursday and Friday afternoons.

The role combines practical cleaning duties with day-to-day supervision, ensuring a safe, hygienic environment for pupils and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning or facilities services is essential.
• Confidence supervising others and delegating tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• A positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Basic literacy and numeracy.
• Knowledge of COSHH and safe working practices.
• A British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) certificate is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a range of cleaning tasks including floors, surfaces, toilets and communal areas.
• Operate powered cleaning equipment as required.
• Monitor cleaning quality and ensure work is completed to a high standard.
• Support and supervise cleaning staff on-site, encouraging strong team working.
• Handle stock control, basic administrative duties and assist with staff induction/training.
• Report faults or issues affecting the service.
• Adhere to COSHH and Health & Safety regulations.

Do you have an eye for detail, a commitment to high standards, and the confidence to lead by example? We're looking for a proactive and dependable Chargehand Cleaner to join our Facilities (Soft FM) team, supporting one of our schools or early years centres across the Falkirk Council area.

• Location: Bantaskin Primary School
• Hours: 13.5 hours per week
• Days: Monday to Thursday 3pm to 5.45pm Friday 3pm to 5.30pm
• Contract: Term Time, Part Time, Permanent
• Line Management: Responsible for supervising a team of Cleaners
