Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

  • Hours : 22.2 hours per week
  • Shift pattern : Day shift, night shift, weekends.
  • This post is fixed term : 12 months

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced clinical expert with leadership qualities to lead a team of Nurse/ODP practitioners as a Band 6.

Preferred candidates should possess clinical expertise within theatres of at least 5 years, and be dual trained in scrub/anaesthetics skills.

The service is looking for a practitioner who puts high quality, person centred care at the centre of the theatre environment.

Key responsibilities will be care planning, teamwork, clinical leadership, communication, carrying out policy and procedure and education/mentorship of staff/students.

This post supports 24/7 service delivery within the North Sector theatres and a flexible skill set is essential for this role.

You will be a team leader of a fast paced theatre with responsibility of managing patient care and staff within theatre to support a flexible service. You will work closely with the Senior Charge Nurse to achieve targets within the theatre department.

The expectation of the role would be to work flexible shifts if required this may include day shift, night shift, weekends and out of hours emergency hub cover.

It is also essential you have evidence of continual development, IT skills, good communication skills and enthusiasm for working in a Theatre environment.
