Job Summary

We're seeking aspiring leaders and clinically credible nurses to join our dedicated team in Suffolk as a Charge Nurse at Suffolk Rehabilitation and Recovery Service, Chilton House.

This role offers a great opportunity to develop leadership skills and advance your nursing career. We are looking for registered mental health nurses with strong clinical expertise, whether you're transitioning from staff nurse to charge nurse or bringing experience from other mental health areas.

Experience in inpatient settings is preferred, but we welcome candidates from diverse clinical backgrounds with relevant mental health experience. Ideal candidates will be motivated, interpersonal, resilient, and enthusiastic about working with acutely unwell adults and their families during challenging times.

Main Duties of the Job

We support skill development through leadership courses, mentorship, and formal qualifications. The environment can be challenging, so we seek clinicians with a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and a practical approach. Reflectiveness on issues of power and difference, system-wide collaboration, and effectiveness are essential.

Person Specification

Qualifications (Essential): Registered Nurse

Desirable: ENB 998 / Mentorship, Leadership, Management Training

Experience (Essential): Minimum two years post-basic experience, with at least one year as a Senior Staff Nurse

Desirable: Management or leadership of junior staff

Skills (Desirable): Ability to travel

Knowledge (Essential): Understanding of confidentiality issues

Desirable: Knowledge of security impacts, and working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983

Other (Essential): Fitness for full PMA training, flexibility for shift work including nights and weekends
