Job summary

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Charge Nurse for the Southfield secure mental health unit. The post holder runs the ward on duties delegated by the clinical ward manager, setting care standards and supervising staff and resources.

You will care for adults aged 18–65 detained under the Mental Health Act, requiring NMC registration as an RMN or RNLD and in-depth Band 5 post-qualification experience.

Qualifications

• RMN or RNLD with current NMC registration.
• Mentorship and clinical supervision training completed.
• Evidence of CPD activity.
• In-depth Band 5 post-qualification mental health experience.

Responsibilities

• Take charge of the ward on duties delegated by the clinical ward manager.
• Support ward management, including deployment, supervision, teaching of staff and students, and resources.
• Assess individual care needs.
• Develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care.
• Set standards of care.
• Manage, deploy and supervise junior staff throughout night duty.
