Are you looking for your next rewarding challenge? Due to the expansion of our services, Colne ward, our Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit within the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, is looking to recruit a Senior Nurse with a passion, to support our growing nursing team.
This is a Cardiac specialist tertiary centre based at Basildon Hospital and part of the Mid and South Essex NHS Trust which boasts some of the most modern cardiothoracic treatment facilities in the country. It was purpose-built to accommodate the highly equipped operating theatres and cardiology treatment rooms needed to provide world-class treatment and care.
Our Centre cares for patients following Cardiothoracic surgery as well as those undergoing cardiology procedures with a multidisciplinary team approach to caring for our patients which includes nurses, medical staff, physiotherapists, dietitians, and HCA's.
We also provide an emergency service to the community of Essex and the surrounding counties for both cardiology and surgical emergencies, receiving patients directly from the ambulance crews, including aortic dissections and out of hospital cardiac arrests.
As our Charge Nurse, you will be required to work as a skilled member of the Cardiothoracic Critical Care team (including cardiothoracic recovery) to assist and lead in the provision of care to patients and families, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluation of care for patients and following the agreed care pathway.
You will consolidate and maintain good unit management and organisational skills and will lead and assist with the provision of an environment conducive to the education of all staff. The post holder will additionally offer support, guidance, and teaching to those members of the critical care team that are less experienced.
Your role will be to practice with increased professional autonomy and assume greater responsibility for decision-making within the clinical setting, supported by agreed integrated care pathways (ICPs), protocols, and patient group directives.
