This will be a peripatetic post – A requirement of this post is to work between both our Glasgow and Edinburgh sites.

The Post:
We are looking for a friendly, confident, and outgoing nurse to provide quality-nursing care for the Clinical Apheresis Unit working between the Beatson Hospital Glasgow and Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
The Candidate:
You will help to provide and develop the plasma exchange, blood stem cell harvesting and other therapeutic services. Venepuncture and cannulation skills are desirable and good communication skills are essential for this role. No experience in therapeutic apheresis is necessary as all relevant training will be given but experience in a closely related field such as Haematology, Renal nursing and intensive Care would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Candidates must have current NMC registration at the time of applying.
Location and Working Pattern:
As this will be a peripatetic post, the successful candidate will work between the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Travel to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow is also expected on a frequent basis. Working location will be determined by service requirements and may be allocated with 24 hours’ notice. Base is negotiable and flexibility in working hours considered. Hours are 37 per week Monday to Friday. Following training you would be expected to participate in the Clinical Apheresis Unit on call rota, currently (1 in 6 includes weekends) to assist in the provision of an “out of hours” service for emergency procedures.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
