Job description

Job Opportunity: Charge Nurse - Care of the Elderly

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to lead, implement, and evaluate standards of good nursing care as a Charge Nurse within Ward 5. Ward 5 is a 30-bed Acute Assessment Unit for the Elderly, caring for some of the most dependent and vulnerable patients with a wide range of medical conditions and clinical needs.

Responsibilities include leading your team, promoting and providing high-quality care, supervising qualified and unqualified staff, and ensuring learning opportunities are met. You will encourage best practices to deliver excellent patient care in line with the CAS standards framework. The role requires a motivated, organized individual with excellent communication skills and a desire to develop leadership and managerial skills.

You will report to the Senior Charge Nurse, providing clinical guidance and professional management, and deputize as required. Demonstrating strong leadership, confident communication, and effective organizational skills is essential. Evidence of personal development, a willingness to contribute to education and audit, and substantial experience at Band 5 level within a relevant setting are required. Good IT skills and a solid understanding of policy, procedures, and national targets are also necessary.
