We are seeking aspiring leaders and clinically credible nurses to join our team as Charge Nurse on Abbeygate Ward in Suffolk. This role offers opportunities to develop leadership skills and advance your nursing career.
Abbeygate Ward is a 17-bed admission ward providing assessment and treatment for individuals with organic or functional mental health issues.
Applicants should be registered nurses with clinical expertise in caring for older adults, ready to progress from staff nurse to charge nurse, or with relevant experience.
Experience in working with acute later life adults is preferred, but applicants from other mental health backgrounds are welcome. Key qualities include motivation, interpersonal skills, resilience, and enthusiasm for working with unwell adults and their families during stressful times.
We provide training to support staff development.
You will develop your skills through leadership courses, mentorship, and formal qualifications. The environment can be challenging, requiring clinicians with a positive attitude, compassion, resilience, and a hands-on approach. Reflectiveness on issues of power and difference, and effective cross-system working, are essential.

This role requires full PMA fitness (training provided) and shift work including nights and weekends over a 7-day period.
