Cloud Imperium Games is seeking an experienced Character Technical Artist to join our team. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Character Technical Art team to develop high-fidelity characters, including clothing and armor for Squadron 42. These assets will feature across gameplay, cinematics, and marketing materials.

If you are passionate about implementing high-quality assets and approach every character with a problem-solving mindset—focusing on high-quality skinning, pipeline maintenance, functionality, consistency, and in-engine performance—we would love to hear from you.

This role involves working at the forefront of development for the cinematic story campaign “Squadron 42,” featuring a star-studded cast including Mark Hamill, Gillian Anderson, John Rhys-Davies, and Mark Strong.

Founded in 2012 by Chris Roberts, Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) is a leading independent studio dedicated to next-generation AAA games. We foster creativity, develop innovative technology, and aim to raise industry standards.

What does a Character Technical Artist do at CIG?
  • Collaborate with Character Artists and Programmers to produce technical art content.
  • Use Maya tools within existing pipelines to skin characters and props.
  • Create and enhance tools using Python.
  • Check assets for technical readiness for Squadron 42.
  • Work cross-disciplinarily to ensure tools and skins function correctly, bridging engineering and art.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and support our growth culture.
What do we expect from our Character Technical Artists?
  • Passion for innovation, pipeline improvement, tool development, and adapting to new tech.
  • Relevant experience in the game development industry.
  • Proficiency in 3DS Max/Maya.
