Job summary

DCS Recruitment is seeking a Chapter Lead – Software Engineering (FTC up to 12 months) to lead a talented engineering chapter within a major fintech transformation programme in a product-led environment.

You will provide hands-on technical leadership while developing engineers, driving secure and scalable platforms that process millions of transactions, and collaborating closely with Product and Architecture teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Qualifications

  • Strong software-engineering background using C# and .NET.
  • Experience developing complex, secure and scalable systems.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching and mentoring software engineers.
  • Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps and product-led delivery environments.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern engineering practices.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to balance people leadership with hands-on technical direction.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Build, lead and develop a high-performing team of software engineers.
  • Create a coaching-led, collaborative and inclusive engineering culture.
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, development and progression.
  • Provide regular feedback, mentoring and technical guidance.
  • Promote accountability, innovation and psychological safety.
  • Support engineers in achieving their professional and technical development goals.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across modern software-engineering practices.
  • Support the development of secure, scalable and highly available fintech platforms.
  • Champion engineering best practices, including DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain high standards of software quality, security and reliability.
  • Work closely with Product, Architecture and other technical stakeholders.
  • Help teams overcome complex technical and delivery challenges.
  • Contribute to the organisation’s technical strategy and engineering roadmap.
  • Promote effective collaboration across engineering teams and product squads.
  • Help ensure the successful delivery of high-quality technical solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, tooling and ways of working.
  • Communicate technical decisions and progress effectively to senior stakeholders.

Salary: £50,000 – £70,000 per annum
Department: IT
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Location: Hybrid, UK-based – two days working from home per week
Contract: Fixed-term contract for up to 12 months

Alongside providing hands‑on technical leadership, you will lead and develop a talented engineering chapter working across several cross‑functional squads. This is an opportunity to make an immediate and visible impact on both the technology and the people delivering it.

Key Responsibilities
People Leadership

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will be a people‑focused technical leader who is passionate about developing engineers and delivering excellent software.

Essential
  • Strong software‑engineering background using C# and .NET.

  • Previous experience within fintech, financial services or another regulated environment.

  • Experience working across multiple cross‑functional product squads.
  • Understanding of security and compliance requirements within financial systems.
