Job description

Naomi and Jack’s is seeking a compassionate Chaplain/Pastoral Support Practitioner (Faith‑Neutral) to join our Family Support Team. The role involves providing inclusive, faith‑neutral pastoral, emotional, and spiritual support to children, young adults, families, staff and volunteers, supporting people through illness, distress, end‑of‑life and bereavement regardless of faith, belief or personal values.

About the Role
  • Offer one‑to‑one pastoral and emotional support to individuals and families.
  • Create a safe, reflective space for people to explore meaning, purpose, values, and belief, whatever their views.
  • Work closely with families, the Family Support Team and the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure holistic care is embedded across the hospice and community settings.
  • Provide a calm, compassionate presence during emotionally challenging moments.
  • Lead and support remembrance, reflection and memory‑making activities.
  • Support and offer pastoral care to staff and volunteers.
  • Build strong relationships with community partners, including external spiritual or faith leaders when required.
About You
  • Experience providing pastoral, emotional or wellbeing support in a hospice, healthcare community or voluntary setting.
  • Strong listening and communication skills.
  • Commitment to faith‑neutral, inclusive practice.
  • Proactive, resilient and comfortable navigating conversations around meaning, identity, grief and hope, always with sensitivity and respect for all beliefs.
  • Confidence to see people individually and in groups, to offer training to others and to lead the delivery of remembering events.
  • Understanding of professional boundaries, confidentiality and safeguarding.
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid UK driving licence.

Working 22.5 hours per week. Salary (Band 5 equivalent): £32,000 to £35,000 per annum, full‑time equivalent, subject to qualifications and experience. A driving licence is essential due to rural location.
