Job Description:

The role holder will provide ceremonial front of house funeral duties of high quality, customer-focused, flexible, and detail-oriented. Responsibilities include Chapel Door attendant duties, attending interments, scatterings, and linked services.

Role outcomes:
  1. Ceremonial duties such as receiving the funeral cortege, family, and mourners, and ushering them into the chapel, including traffic management. (50%)
  2. Assisting members of the public, funeral directors, clergy, celebrants, and contractors with enquiries and activities. (30%)
  3. Ensuring sites and buildings are open and available during operating hours. (5%)
  4. Regularly checking audio-visual equipment throughout the day. (5%)
  5. Maintaining the chapel, waiting room, toilets, and Book of Remembrance Rooms to ensure safety and comfort for mourners and visitors. (5%)
  6. Displaying floral tributes in the flower viewing area throughout the day. (5%)
Essential qualifications/knowledge:
  • Either 2 GCSEs Grades A*–C (9-4) in English and Maths or equivalent in literacy and numeracy.
  • Customer service knowledge.
Essential experience:
  • Experience working in a sensitive and compassionate service environment.
  • Experience providing information and signposting customers professionally and sensitively.
  • Experience delivering excellent customer service.
Essential skills:
  • Verbal communication skills for exchanging information and responding tactfully to enquiries and complaints.
