Location: South East England (Hybrid with periodic in-person board meetings)
Business Type: Private Equity-backed | Business Automation / SaaS
Commitment: Part-time (2–4 days per month, flexible as needed)

About the Company

We are a high-growth, private equity-backed business specialising in automation solutions that help mid-market and enterprise clients streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance digital transformation. Headquartered in the South East of England, the business has a strong client base, a highly capable leadership team, and a clear roadmap for scaling organically and through acquisition.

Following a successful investment round, we are now seeking a seasoned Chair of the Board to help guide the business through the next phase of strategic growth and value creation.

Role Overview

As Chair, you will play a critical role in leading the Board and supporting the CEO and executive team in delivering on the company’s ambitious growth agenda. You will bring strong governance, strategic clarity, and experience of scaling businesses in a private equity environment. Your leadership will ensure a high-performing Board, effective oversight, and strong alignment between management and investors.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Lead the Board in setting and monitoring the company’s strategic direction, in collaboration with the CEO and PE investors.

Foster a high-quality, constructive relationship between the Board and executive team.

Ensure effective governance, risk management, and compliance with corporate and fiduciary responsibilities.

Act as a mentor and sounding board to the CEO, offering challenge and support in equal measure.

Support fundraising, M&A activity, or exit planning (e.g., secondary sale, trade exit, IPO).

Chair board meetings with professionalism and efficiency, ensuring balanced input and decision-making.

Liaise with Private Equity stakeholders to ensure alignment of strategy and performance goals.

Ensure the Board has the right skills, diversity, and structure for current and future needs.

Qualifications

Candidate Profile

We are seeking an experienced Chair or Non-Executive Director with:

A successful track record of Chairing or Board-level leadership in PE-backed or fast-growth B2B businesses.

Strong understanding of business automation, SaaS, enterprise software, or digital transformation markets.

Demonstrated experience in value creation within a PE environment, including M&A, bolt-ons, or exit planning.

Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and governance skills.

Gravitas and integrity, with the ability to constructively challenge and support.

South East England proximity preferred for ease of access to board and management meetings.

Remuneration

Competitive non-executive fee and equity participation (subject to negotiation and investor agreement).
