Job summary

SILA Linguists is recruiting freelance Chadian Arabic interpreters and translators for asylum, legal and healthcare assignments, remotely or on site across the UK.

Responsibilities include interpreting in Chadian Arabic, translating into English, ensuring accuracy, and researching terminology for medical and legal bookings. Flexible freelance work with remote and on-site opportunities is offered.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in Chadian Arabic and English.
• A recognised interpreting or translation qualification such as DPSI or DPI, or equivalent experience.
• Membership of CIOL, ITI or NRPSI is welcome but not required.

Responsibilities

• Interpret in Chadian Arabic and check local terms; confirm client language preference.
• Translate from Arabic or French into English where qualified.
• Interpret accurately and impartially, keeping information confidential.
• Research subject-specific vocabulary, especially medical and legal terms.
• Work remotely by video or telephone, or on site at the client’s premises.
• Transcribe and translate audio/video recordings if skilled.
