Job summary

The Wellcome Sanger Institute in Cambridge is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow or Senior Postdoctoral Fellow to advance statistical genetics methods for cfDNA in maternal plasma and fetal genomes. You will develop genotype calling and Mendelian gene discovery from high‑coverage sequence data and collaborate with international groups.

Applicants should have a PhD in statistics, genetics or genomics and strong programming skills in Python and/or R, Unix/Linux, with a track record in reproducible

Qualifications

• PhD in statistics, statistical genetics, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, machine learning or similar.
• Strong background in statistics or statistical genetics and ability to develop and benchmark new methods.
• Experience with raw sequence data and large-scale human genomic analyses.
• Proficiency in Python and/or R, and Unix/Linux.

Responsibilities

• Develop new statistical and deep learning methods for calling fetal and maternal genotypes from high-coverage cfDNA data.
• Apply methods to study pregnancy complications in large cohorts and collaborate with international groups.
