Responsibilities

  • Provide general patient care and perform routine treatments and procedures as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  • Assist with personal hygiene to promote patient comfort and well-being.
  • Check and record intake and output as ordered.
  • Take and record patient’s vital signs and other measurements as indicated.
  • Administer enemas, reinforce simple non-sterile dressings, apply binders, collect specimens, apply heat or cold devices, and perform other routine tasks.
  • Assist the RN in caring for seriously ill patients or in complex treatments or procedures.
  • Help maintain a safe and clean environment with well-stocked supplies and functioning equipment.
  • Maintain patient medical records accurately, legibly, and completely, documenting all care provided and significant observations.
  • Observe assigned patients and report any problems, changes in condition, or unexpected occurrences to the RN/Team Leader.
  • Stay current in the field by attending seminars and inservices.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • Vocational/Technical training and over six months of related experience or equivalent.
  • RI State Nursing Assistant license is required.
