Shift: Nights

Schedule: 7:00pm - 7:00am EOW/EOH

Primary Function

Responsible for performing various patient care activities and related non-professional services to care for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and observe all hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide general patient care and perform routine treatments and procedures as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  2. Provide care, assisting with personal hygiene to promote patient’s comfort and well-being.
  3. Check and record intake and output as ordered.
  4. Take and record patient’s vital signs and other measurements as indicated.
  5. Give enemas, reinforce simple non-sterile dressings, apply binders, collect specimens, apply heat or cold devices and perform other routine tasks.
  6. Assist the RN in caring for seriously ill patients or in complicated treatments or procedures.
  7. Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment with well-stocked supplies and functioning equipment.
  8. Maintain patient’s medical records in an orderly manner and document all care provided and significant information, legibly, accurately and completely.
  9. Observe assigned patients and report any patient care problem, change in patient condition or unexpected occurrences to RN/Team Leader.
  10. Maintain current knowledge of specialty by attending seminars and inservices.
  11. Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

Vocational/Technical training and more than six months job-related experience or equivalent.

RI State Nursing Assistant license is also required.
