Unit Bio:

Maine Medical Center's Float Pool offers a unique opportunity for experienced clinical nursing assistants to expand their knowledge base and sharpen their skill set. A CNA in this position is trained on various Med Surg floors, Telemetry units, and high-acuity settings within Maine's only Magnet designated hospital and level 1 Trauma Center. The diverse floors and units provide opportunities to practice in highly sought-after specialties, including pediatrics and Mother/Baby care, which may not be available at the time of hire. Candidates must possess quick thinking, adaptability, and critical thinking skills.

Summary:

Under the supervision of Registered Professional Nurses and according to policies and procedures, performs duties such as taking vital signs and assisting patients with hygiene and activities of daily living. Duties vary by assignment, considering the needs of specific patient populations.

The CNA II role assists in administering nursing care to designated patients under RN supervision, performing both direct and indirect care duties.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

1. Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.

2. License/Certifications: Current applicable state license as a CNA required. BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of start date.

3. Experience: 0-6 months CNA experience; on-the-job training provided.
