Your role at BRE

We are currently seeking a graduate in engineering or physical science background, or a technically skilled individual with demonstrated management and organisational abilities, to join our Suppression Fire Protection Certification Team on a permanent, full-time basis. The team is responsible for certifying a variety of fire suppression products and systems, including hose reels, sprinklers, and fixed fire extinguishing systems, which are utilised throughout the built environment. Our team collaborates with clients both in the UK and internationally.

The role responsibilities:

  1. Deliver certification technical reviews for suppression fire protection certification schemes (LPCB and Regulatory), in accordance with ISO 17065 requirements.
  2. Manage and deliver all aspects of projects; from initial enquiries and quotation, through testing and on to completion of project.
  3. Conduct detailed technical review of data against the requirements of LPCB schemes, Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and UK Conformity Assessments (UKCA).
  4. Manage customers through their certification application journey with regular technical reviews to ensure continuous progress.
  5. Manage work in-line with the BRE Global safety, environmental, management and quality systems, and liaise with internal departments, as required.
  6. Participate in internal audits and UKAS audits.
  7. Work closely with relevant colleagues to ensure tasks are prioritised and delivered in accordance with customer and management expectations.
  8. Attain and maintain competencies.

Your profile

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or a Physical Science-related field.
  • Strong understanding of technical standards (e.g. BS, EN, ISO) for products and quality systems.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and keen observational abilities.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience in product testing or evaluation.
  • Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong organisational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional integrity and confidentiality when working with clients and colleagues.
  • Confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Background in manufacturing.
  • Experience in auditing and certification approval processes.
  • Knowledge of fire suppression product testing and/or certification.
  • Familiarity with UKAS-accredited certification bodies.
