Job description

Join us at Greene King, the country's leading pub company and brewer, where our mission is to pour happiness into lives and become the pride of great British hospitality. We have something special, deeply rooted in our 220-year brewing and pub history, creating the business we are proudly known for today. Still today our 39,000 strong team are the guardians of what’s wholly British, the pub experience.

As our CEO Executive Assistant, you'll act as a trusted strategic partner to the CEO, enabling effective decision-making by ensuring priorities are aligned, key actions are delivered, and executive activity runs seamlessly across the business. This is far more than a traditional Executive Assistant role; you'll operate as an extension of the CEO, providing strategic support, driving accountability, influencing senior stakeholders, and helping maintain momentum on critical business priorities.

You’ll also play a key role in developing ways of working across the wider Executive Assistant and administrative support community, partnering with colleagues to build capability, improve processes, and drive the adoption of technology-enabled solutions.

In your role as CEO Executive Assistant you will:

Strategic Executive Support
  • Act as a trusted partner to the CEO, managing priorities, actions and outcomes to support strategic business objectives.
  • Drive follow-up actions with senior stakeholders to ensure commitments are delivered within agreed timelines.
  • Anticipate challenges, identify risks and proactively resolve issues before they escalated.
  • Maintain visibility of key strategic initiatives, removing blockers and ensuring momentum is maintained.
  • Build strong relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead and coordinate small projects on behalf of the CEO and wider Executive team where required.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
  • Prepare high-quality board, committee and leadership materials, ensuring information is accurate, concise and impactful.
  • Draft executive-level communications, presentations, reports and briefings.
  • Support end-to-end board and governance processes, including agendas, papers, actions and deadlines.
  • Manage and prioritise requests directed to the CEO, ensuring focus remains on key strategic priorities.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships to facilitate collaboration and effective decision-making.
  • Line manage and develop the function's Executive Assistants, ensuring high standards of support for senior leaders and their teams.
Executive Operations & Logistics
  • Manage complex diaries, travel arrangements and logistical requirements, ensuring the CEO's time is optimised for maximum effectiveness.
  • Ensure meetings are purposeful, well prepared and focused on delivering clear outcomes.
  • Represent the CEO professionally across the business, acting as a credible extension of the executive office.
  • Coordinate complex communications and information flows between the Executive Board, Leadership Group and external stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement & Team Development
  • Partner with the Pub & Admin Support Manager to implement people, process and technology improvements across the wider administration community.
  • Champion efficient, collaborative and technology-enabled ways of working.
  • Support the development and adoption of best practice across Executive Assistants, Team Assistants and operational support teams.
  • Contribute to building a unified support function that operates in the best interests of Greene King and our pub teams.
What we're looking for

  • Proven ability to operate with discretion, integrity and professionalism when handling confidential information.
  • Excellent communication skills with experience producing executive-level presentations, reports and board materials.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage complex logistics and multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience leading, coaching or developing administrative support colleagues would be advantageous.
