Job description

Hours: 6:00 am to 3:00 pm or 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday

Job Description:

We have an urgent vacancy for a skilled Centre Lathe Turner to join our team on a temporary to permanent basis. As a Centre Lathe Turner, you will play a crucial role in manufacturing bespoke components from Graphite for the manufacturing and aerospace industries. You will work in a small team alongside 4 other engineers, ensuring the production of high-quality components according to engineering drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to manufacture bespoke components from Graphite.
  • Set up and operate centre lathes to turn, bore, thread, and face Graphite components to precise tolerances.
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure quality standards are met and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Inspect finished components for accuracy and conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues to maintain production efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including routine machine maintenance and lubrication.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Centre Lathe Turner or similar role.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes and techniques.
  • Ability to set up and operate centre lathes independently.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Temporary to permanent position offering stability and growth opportunities.
  • Competitive hourly rate of £14.58 per hour.
  • Regular working hours with overtime available after 40 hours, paid at time and a half £21.87 per hour.
