Confidential in Tees Valley is seeking a Centre Co-ordinator to manage the day-to-day operations of the centre, coordinate the planning and delivery of activities, services and events, and lead our team of centre volunteers.

In collaboration with the Treasurer and Trustees, you will ensure the centre is a welcoming, well-run hub for local people of all ages and that activities align with approved workplans.

Job description

The Centre Co-ordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the centre, for co-ordinating the planning and delivery of activities, services and events and for our team of centre volunteers.
Working closely with the Treasurer and Trustees, the Co-ordinator will ensure that the centre is maintained as a well-run, welcoming place for local people of all ages, and that it delivers activities to achieve the key outcomes identified in the workplan to be agreed with Trustees.
In the first year in post the Co-ordinator will be expected to strengthen and support our activities for children, young people, families and older people in line with current funding targets.

The role involves engaging with our funding partners, trustees, staff and volunteers and key elements are:

Community Development

This will involve building relationships with community members and with other community agencies and organisations and use the centre to strengthen community relationships.We would expect you to consult with centre users and community members to identify their needs and plan activities and services to meet those needsThe role may involve setting up and growing new clubs and groups to meet the needs of different groups in the village and supporting and encouraging community volunteers to set up community groups and activities which meet specific needs in the village, and provide space for these within the centre.

Centre and Volunteer Management

You must be able to deal professionally with enquiries made by community members, partner agencies and other community organisations either in person, by phone, by e-mail or by other means with regard to use of the Centre and its facilities including, with other staff, taking room bookings including payments and issuing of receipts and to ensure that an accurate bookings diary is maintained.Working with key holders to ensure that arrangements are in place for opening and closing the centre and for preparing the Centre for use. Working with our cleaner to ensure the Centre is clean and well maintained Volunteers are very important and we would need you to support the recruitment, selection and training of new volunteers and support current volunteers.

You would need to ensure that all policies and procedures are up to date, implemented and followed and to train and delegate the day to day responsibility for health and safety to staff and volunteers as appropriate.

Fundraising and Financial Management

We would support you to identify funding sources and streams and, with the agreement of the Treasurer, to draft funding bids to secure funding for current and new activities and projects, as well as ongoing core/revenue/capital costs. You would be responsible for properly maintaining the Centre's monitoring and evaluation processes to ensure data can be collected and collated to provide robust evidence to support funding bids, preparing reports requested by funders e.g. progress reports, end of grant reports and to work with the trustees to review funding needs and to agree fundraising targets and plans. Also you would work with volunteers and staff to plan fundraising activities and events to generate unrestricted funding to support Centre running costs and activities and work with the Treasurer to manage the Centre's finances, including responsibility for: Payments and receipts; Day to day small scale expenditure; Petty cash; Invoices; Records of income and expenditure; Volunteer and other expenses; Spending in relation to specific grants restricted funding . Your support would help the Treasurer with the production of financial reports for Trustees.

Partnership Working

We would want you to establish, maintain and grow relationships with local voluntary and statutory sector partner organisations and agencies near us, attend network and partnership meetings as agreed with the Treasurer., identify opportunities for collaborative approaches and joint funding bids with relevant partners and ensure partnership agreements are in place for funded work

Publicity and Promotion

With other staff and volunteers you would ensure that the Centre's website and social media accounts are regularly updated, provide information about Centre activities via local newsletter/s and social media, circulate information via email networks and partner organisations and be aware regular groups in the Centre ensuring they have information about upcoming activities and new developments.
