Job summary

Dudley MBC Bereavement Services is seeking a cemetery operative to perform gravedigging and related duties across the borough cemeteries, including Gornal Wood and Stourbridge. You must hold a full UK driving licence with ability to drive up to 7.5 tonnes and tow a trailer; experience with 360 excavators is desirable.

The role requires physical work in all weathers and the ability to communicate sensitively with bereaved families.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with ability to drive up to 7.5 tonnes and tow a trailer.
• Ability to carry out physical tasks and work in all weathers.
• Willingness to undertake relevant training and relate sensitively to the bereaved.
• Weekend and bank holiday rota work as required.

Responsibilities

• Carry out gravedigging and related duties across borough cemeteries.
• Work across sites in all weathers.
• Support out-of-hours burial service rota as needed.
