Job summary

The University of Sheffield is seeking a Research Technician in Cell Culture, Imaging and Sample Processing to support a fungal biointerface programme within the School of Clinical Dentistry. The role involves cell culture, imaging preparation, staining, sample processing and laboratory organisation in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

You will provide day‑to‑day technical support across mammalian cell culture, data handling and reagent preparation, ensuring high standards of safety,

Qualifications

• A Degree, HND, National Diploma or equivalent in a relevant scientific field – Essential – Application
• Experience providing technical support in a research laboratory or related technical environment – Essential – Application/interview
• Practical aseptic technique and preparation of biological media, reagents or samples – Essential – Application/interview
• Experience with mammalian cell culture and imaging workflows – Essential – Application/interview
• Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures in a laboratory environment and accurate record keeping – Essential – Application/interview

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated technical support to the funded fungal biointerface programme under supervision.
• Maintain and support mammalian cell culture workflows and in‑vitro models.
• Prepare media, reagents, buffers and assay consumables for experiments.
• Assist with viability, cytotoxicity and immunostaining workflows.
• Prepare samples for imaging and data analysis; maintain traceable records.
