Job summary

The Health and Safety Partnership Limited is seeking a CDM Principal Designer to lead health, safety and CDM compliance across design and pre-construction phases. You will identify risks, provide CDM guidance, and coordinate with designers, engineers and project teams to ensure safe delivery.

The role requires machinery or production-line experience within engineering or manufacturing, and a proven track record as a CDM Principal Designer. NEBOSH certificates and IOSH membership are advantageous.

Qualifications

• CDM Principal Designer with proven experience.
• Background with machinery or production lines in engineering/manufacturing.
• Membership of a relevant professional body (IOSH desirable).
• NEBOSH General and/or Construction Certificate (or equivalent).
• Relevant engineering/design/construction/health & safety qualification.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing project information to identify design, construction and maintenance risks.
• Providing clear CDM advice to clients on duties, policies and procedures.
• Attending and coordinating design and project meetings.
• Undertaking site visits as required.
• Preparing and sharing health and safety information with project teams.
• Reviewing Construction Phase Plans.
• Overseeing the preparation of Pre-Construction Information.
• Working with machinery/production lines in engineering or manufacturing.
• Demonstrated experience as a CDM Principal Designer.
• Experience with BAE Systems would be advantageous.

Job description

As CDM Principal Designer, you will be responsible for ensuring that health, safety and CDM requirements are effectively considered and managed throughout the design and pre-construction stages of projects. You will work closely with designers, engineers, project teams and other stakeholders to identify and manage risks, ensuring projects are delivered safely and in accordance with CDM Regulations. Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing project information and construction drawings to identify design, construction and maintenance risks.
• Providing clear CDM advice to clients, including guidance on duties, policies and procedures.
• Attending and coordinating design and project meetings.
• Undertaking site visits as required.
• Preparing and sharing relevant health and safety information with project teams.
• Reviewing Construction Phase Plans.
• Overseeing the preparation of Pre-Construction Information.
  This role requires a background in machinery or production lines, alongside proven experience working in a CDM Principal Designer capacity., Significant experience working with machinery and/or production lines within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Previous, demonstrable experience working specifically as a CDM Principal Designer.
• Experience of working previously with BAE Systems would be highly advantageous but not essential., NEBOSH General and/or Construction Certificate (or equivalent)
• A relevant engineering, design, construction or health & safety qualification (HNC/HND/degree or equivalent),
• Membership of a relevant professional body, eg IOSH is desirable
