Job summary

Tata Steel in Port Talbot is seeking a CDM Facilitator to join Project invictus. The role is 100% site based with a strong emphasis on health and safety compliance, CDM knowledge, and effective co-ordination with project teams.

You will drive safety systems, manage contractor controls, and deliver inductions and training while supporting the deployment of safety management across the site.

Qualifications

• Driving Licence and access to own vehicle.
• NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
• CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of Construction techniques and processes.
• IT literacy with Windows Office, SAP & Lotus Notes.
• Experience in on-site heavy industries or major construction/oil & gas.

Responsibilities

• Co-ordinate and implement safety systems and procedures for the project teams.
• Ensure adequate control measures for contractors on site.
• Maintain compliance with CDM and H&S legislation.
• Support deployment of Tata Health and Safety Management System.
• Identify improvements in health, safety and environmental standards.
• Update Safety Systems including Compliance Register and Audit Index.
• Audit safety compliance and conduct inspections.
• Liaise with Safety Advisors and provide safety knowledge.
• Develop and issue safety bulletins, alerts and toolbox talks.
• Provide information for auditors and stakeholders.
• Deliver local safety inductions and training packages.
• Track safety compliance training (HAVS, Fire, Asbestos, Gas Awareness).

Role:

CDM Facilitator

Location:

TATA Steel, Port Talbot SA13 2NG (100% site based)

Pay:

£40,788 per annum, hourly this is £21.49

Contract length:

36 months

Shift Patterns:

Monday - Thursday 08:30-16:45, Friday 08:30-15:45 (36.5 hours per week)

Start:

ASAP but pending the successful result of a medical assessment. This does involve a drug and alcohol test.

Responsibilities:

• Supporting and advising the project teams in the co-ordination, implementation and development of safety systems and procedures
• Ensuring that adequate control measures are in place for the control of Contractors working for the Project & Design department
• Ensuring compliance with appropriate CDM and H&S legislation is maintained.
• Supporting the deployment of the Tata Health and Safety Management System and department goals with respect to the Safety Annual Plan.
• Identifying improvements in health, safety and environmental standards in the assigned area/Project construction site.
• Updating designated Safety Systems including Compliance Register and Audit Index.
• Auditing safety compliance with regards to behaviour and inspections.
• Liaising with the Central Safety/Specialist Safety Advisor to provide information and where appropriate specialist Health & Safety knowledge.
• Developing issuing and recording safety bulletins, accident alerts, amber alerts, toolbox talks etc.
• Providing information for internal and external stakeholders such as auditors, JWHSAC, steering meetings etc.
• Delivering local area safety inductions and training packages as required by the local department/Project to ensure clear understanding of local safety rules to all persons (employees, contractors and visitors).
• Tracking and driving safety compliance training within the local area, e.g. HAVS, Fire, Asbestos, Gas Awareness.

Essential requirements:

• Driving Licence and access to own vehicle (due to the nature of the site)
• NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate
• Construction Skills CITB & Site Managers Safety Training Scheme certificate or equivalent
• Good knowledge of Construction techniques and processes
• Proficient IT literacy, especially with Windows Office, SAP & Lotus notes database
• Experience in on site heavy industries, major construction or oil and gas works
