We are seeking to recruit a Health & Safety in Design/CDM Consultant to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to work for a dynamic and sociable company and make an impact. You would be based in our Cardiff or Swansea office but could also work from home or other offices in the Midlands and Southwest. Your weekly schedule may include client site visits, office work, or remote work, possibly requiring overnight stays.

We are looking for a collaborative and motivated CDM Consultant to deliver quality services for our clients. Under CDM 2015, our services focus on assisting designers with the Principal Designer role and helping clients comply with their duties. You may be a chartered civil engineer or construction professional looking to specialize in H&S, or a H&S specialist with construction industry experience.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Advising on best practice CDM design risk management.
  • Carrying out CDM design reviews and advising designers in line with legislation and best practices.
  • Assisting clients in fulfilling their duties under CDM 2015.
  • Providing health and safety expertise and consultancy services to clients.
  • Delivering H&S and CDM training, maintaining knowledge of legislative and best practice updates.
  • Having a background in construction and/or design.
  • Experience in H&S training and familiarity with ISO 45001 and other management systems.

This role offers excellent prospects for career progression and requires excellent client-facing skills to provide first-class service.

Candidate requirements:

  • Ability to work independently. Professional chartership with IOSH or related body (or working towards it). Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  • Construction industry experience and knowledge of construction design, building control, construction techniques, fire safety, temporary works, asbestos, demolition, scaffolding, working at height, and lifting.
  • Experience in workplace audits and site inspections is desirable. Good communication skills and team contribution.
  • Proactive attitude with willingness to seek guidance when needed. Minimum years of relevant experience.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or willingness to obtain it.
  • Ability to produce professional reports with good English and proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software.
  • Driving license and willingness to travel across the UK.
