Job summary

Mactech Inspection Ltd. is seeking a Construction Design and Management (CDM) Advisor to join the HPC project in Somerset.

You will support compliance with CDM Regulations, provide expert advice to design teams, and help deliver training on CDM practices to ensure technical excellence on site. The role requires strong communication skills, the ability to liaise with stakeholders at management levels, and the motivation to work autonomously in a complex, high-risk environment on the Hinkley Point

Job Purpose / Overview

• Join us as a Construction Design and Management (CDM) Advisor, contributing to complex construction topics at HPC and you'll be helping us to make sure we continue to deliver technical excellence for the project.
• The successful applicant will be a key member of the wider Technical Branch of the Joint Design Office [JDO]. The HPC Technical Director is accountable for discharging the Principal Designer Role as defined in the CDM Regulations (2015). For design changes made at the construction site, these duties are discharged through the JDO to ensure that CDM regulations are complied with. The role of the CDM team within the Technical Authority is to ensure compliance, provide expert advice and deliver training to the wider design teams to ensure the regulations are adhered to.

Qualifications & Experience

• Professional qualifications and membership of a recognised construction related organisation (e.g. CIBSE, ICE, IEE, IMechE, IStructE, RIBA, etc.)
• Validated Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in the field of Health and Safety (e.g. NEBOSH Construction Certificate, Member of ICE H&S Register, MaPS etc.)
• Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements
• Demonstrable, transferable skills within the field of CDM, Safety and Construction
• Decision making and escalation ability for resolution of issues
• Good communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Knowledge of power station design (EPR or NPP) preferred
