Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust seeks an experienced medical leader to drive clinical quality and patient safety within the Clinical Delivery Group. The role involves coordinating leadership, governance and operational performance to deliver hospital priorities.

You will collaborate with CDG leaders, manage Clinical Service Leads, and deputise for the Hospital Medical Director when required, contributing to broader strategic objectives and external relationships.

Responsibilities

• Support the Clinical Delivery Group Leads and wider Leadership to translate University Hospitals Birmingham's vision into improved clinical services and staff development.
• Contribute to the CDG management with medical advice on operational issues.
• Support hospital relationships with external agencies including BSol, NHSE, professional bodies and regulators.
• Provide visible medical leadership, including direct line management of Clinical Service Leads within the CDG.
• As a CDG Leadership Team member, ensure effective clinical and operational performance, leading transformation and improvement across the CDG.
• Provide senior leadership for clinical quality and patient safety and its governance and improvement within the CDG.
• Act as day-to-day medical leader for the CDG.
• Oversee medical workforce development and professionalism to support clinical quality and patient experience at specialty level.
• Support CDG services to deliver Hospital and Trust priorities and service level objectives.
• Deputise for the Hospital Medical Director when required.
• Contribute to the Hospital's strategic vision and develop relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
• Ensure that CDG specialty teams maintain up-to-date job plans reflecting service commitments and hospital priorities.
• Promote and support service-led improvements in quality and productivity across the CDG, and adopt best practice pathways.
