CDD Automation Solutions delivers electrical and automation services in the UK. They are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to develop electrical designs for industrial automation and control systems from concept through to commissioning, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and clients.

The role covers design, documentation, component specification, and coordination across software, controls and installation teams, ensuring compliance with standards and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical design within industrial automation or related engineering field.
• Knowledge of electrical design principles, control panel design and low-voltage systems.
• Experience using electrical CAD software to produce schematics and design documentation.
• Understanding of UK electrical standards and safe working practices.
• HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience using EPLAN to develop electrical designs.

Responsibilities

• Produce electrical designs, schematics, wiring diagrams and panel layouts for automation and control systems.
• Develop electrical design documentation per project specifications and standards.
• Support selection and specification of electrical components and field devices.
• Collaborate with software, controls, project management and installation teams.
• Review client requirements, identify constraints and opportunities for improvement.
• Support design reviews, risk assessments and technical queries through the lifecycle.
• Assist with panel build, FAT, site installation and commissioning as required.
• Ensure designs comply with electrical standards and health & safety requirements.

Peterborough | Permanent, Full-time | Flexible Working | + Bonus + Benefits | EV Car Scheme | Share Scheme | Healthcare CDD Automation Solutions is looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to develop electrical designs for industrial automation and control systems. You will contribute to projects from concept and detailed design through to installation, testing and commissioning, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and clients.

The Role

• Produce electrical designs, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules and panel layouts for automation and control systems.
• Develop electrical design documentation in line with project specifications, applicable standards and company procedures.
• Support the selection and specification of electrical components, instrumentation, control panels and field devices.
• Collaborate with software, controls, project management and installation teams to ensure designs are coordinated and practical to deliver.
• Review client requirements and technical information, identifying design constraints, risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Support design reviews, risk assessments and the resolution of technical queries throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist with panel build, factory acceptance testing, site installation and commissioning activities as required.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant electrical standards, health and safety requirements and project quality processes.

About You

• Experience in electrical design within industrial automation, control systems, systems integration or a related engineering environment.
• Knowledge of electrical design principles, control panel design, industrial instrumentation and low-voltage systems.
• Experience using electrical CAD software to produce schematics and design documentation.
• Understanding of relevant UK electrical standards and safe working practices.
• Able to interpret technical specifications, electrical drawings and project documentation.
• Organised and detail-focused, with the ability to manage design tasks and meet project deadlines.
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with clients and engineering teams.
• HNC, HND or degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience using EPLAN

Desirable

Experience in regulated or process industries, familiarity with PLC and SCADA systems, and knowledge of panel manufacturing, FAT, installation or commissioning activities.
