An exceptional opportunity for a Clinical Fellow in Lower Limb Arthroplasty at a leading NHS Trust in London. You will work in a prestigious complex arthroplasty unit, gaining valuable experience in managing cases and enhancing your surgical skills. The post offers a supportive research environment, ensuring personal and professional development while contributing to high-quality patient care.
The post-holder will be attached to the complex arthroplasty unit. They will spend considerable time in theatre, with opportunities to undertake cases under supervision. Exposure to a high-volume arthroplasty unit will allow learning of cemented and uncemented primary and revision THA, primary and revision TKA, and complex revision surgeries including multiply revised cases and the use of custom components. Particular experience will be gained in single and two-stage revisions for infection.
Responsibilities include performing daily ward rounds, managing inpatients alongside a specialist registrar and nurse specialist, and participating in at least one outpatient clinic per week, with independent clinics under supervision as appropriate.
The post-holder is expected to complete at least two research projects, attend research meetings, and will be encouraged and supported to present at international meetings and publish their work.

Post CCT Clinical Fellow in Lower Limb Arthroplasty
Applications are open for a Lower Limb Arthroplasty Fellow in the Trauma & Orthopaedic department to work within the Complex Arthroplasty Unit. Multiple appointments may be made for fellows starting in the next year. The next available post begins in February 2027, with a typical duration of 12 months.
St George's Healthcare NHS Trust is one of the UK's largest teaching hospitals and a major tertiary referral center for pelvic and acetabular surgery, hip and knee reconstruction, hip preservation, pediatric surgery, spinal surgery, and complex trauma.
The complex arthroplasty team includes three consultants specializing in complex primary and revision joint replacements. The unit receives tertiary referrals, especially for significant bone loss and infection. Elective work is split between St. George's and the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre.
The Trust employs a devolved clinical management structure via Care Groups, each managed by a Consultant and a General Manager. The Orthopaedic SDU comprises several subspecialties, with surgeons collaborating closely and referring cases as needed.
The Trauma & Orthopaedic Care Group has 22 surgeons and provides elective and trauma services, including tertiary services like pelvic and acetabular reconstruction, lower limb reconstruction, hip preservation, complex revision surgery, and spinal surgery.
