Job summary

TJ Morris Limited trading as Home Bargains is seeking a Catering Team Member at the Omega Distribution Centre in Warrington. The role focuses on food preparation, presentation, serving and delivering a high standard of catering service for colleagues and visitors.

You will help ensure food safety, cleanliness, and efficient operations in a busy canteen. With 24 hours per week over four nights, the position offers a pension, employee benefits and onsite facilities.

Job Introduction

Are you passionate about providing excellent service and working in a vibrant catering environment? Based at our state-of-the-art Omega Distribution Centre, as a Catering Team Member, you’ll play a crucial role in delivering a positive catering experience for colleagues and visitors. Working closely with the Catering Team Leader and Manager, you’ll ensure that all catering standards are met, contributing to a welcoming and efficient canteen service.

In this role, you’ll focus on the preparation, presentation, and serving of food, ensuring everything is done to a high standard. You’ll be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety within the catering area, following food safety guidelines, and accurately recording temperatures and stock levels. Your attention to detail will help keep our service running smoothly and ensure compliance with all company policies.

With a customer-focused mindset, you’ll help to deliver excellent service daily. From stock control to supporting team operations, you’ll be key in creating a positive experience for our team and visitors while working collaboratively with other functions across the site.

Job Overview

• Customer Service Excellence: Deliver outstanding customer service, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment for colleagues and visitors at all times.
• Food Preparation and Presentation: Prepare and present food to high standards, adhering to company guidelines for quality, safety, and compliance.
• Compliance and Record-Keeping: Ensure all company administration, food safety procedures, and record-keeping requirements are met, including temperature logs and allergen management.
• Hygiene and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to COSHH standards, and assist with general kitchen duties, including pot wash and waste disposal.
• Stock Management: Manage stock and portion control, and follow guidelines to minimise waste.
• Food Safety Standards: Consistently record food and fridge/freezer temperatures, ensure proper storage, and label food items in accordance with food safety guidelines.
• Daily Administration: Complete daily bookwork, including Food Safety Diary entries and compliance with Natasha's law for allergen management.
• Collaborative Working: Work as part of a cohesive team, engaging with Catering Team Leaders, Managers, and other departments across the site to deliver consistent service.
• Previous experience in a catering or hospitality environment, ideally in a fast-paced setting.
• Minimum Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety certificates.
• Strong customer service skills and a customer-focused approach.
• Ability to think quickly, organise, and prioritise workload effectively.
• Clear and effective communication skills.
