Job Responsibilities

As Play Barn & Catering Team Lead at Birdworld, you will be responsible for the efficient and smooth running of the catering operations across the park and the guest experience in the Play Barn. You will provide effective leadership to the team and ensure a high level of guest service and experience is delivered.

  • Driving catering performance across the park in order to meet sales and margin targets and to remain within budget.
  • Driving and supporting high levels of guest service across all areas of catering and the Play Barn
  • Recruiting, training and developing the team, ensuring they are motivated to achieve the agreed department objectives whilst remaining within budget.
  • Managing and monitoring team induction and probation periods within Company standards.
  • Weekly rota scheduling and daily task allocation - reviewing and adjusting catering team levels to meet the needs of the guest/business and to the agreed parameters of labour cost and headcount.
  • Setting up kitchen equipment and Front of House including temperature checks and completing food preparation to meet quality standards and menu specifications
  • Ensuring all catering equipment works correctly and reporting any issues through the correct channels in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring the servicing of the equipment takes place in line with required schedules.
  • Coordinating and preparing the party space, greeting and hosting party groups to the Play Barn.
  • Ensuring the appropriate use and behaviour of the play facilities are monitored, maintained and managed accordingly.
Requirements
  • Food Safety Level 3 minimum.
  • First Aid At Work (or willingness to undertake).
  • Willingness to undergo a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) basic check.
  • Experience in food service or hospitality leadership.
  • Knowledge and understanding of food hygiene within a commercial environment.
  • IT system/data-base experience.
  • Experience of visitor attraction (desirable).

Birdworld is a family attraction filled with interactive experiences and play spaces, safely enclosed in a natural setting. Indoor woodland adventures await at Birdworld's Play Barn - perfect for endless fun, no matter the weather bringing the magic of the woodland indoors for hours of adventure and discovery.

You will be working 37.5 hours per week, 5 days per week. 09:00-17:00 with 30 minutes unpaid lunch. You will have 1 fixed day off during the week and will work alternative weekends. There may be a requirement for flexibility to change hours to meet business needs.
