Job summary

The Ministry of Justice is recruiting for a permanent caterer within the catering team at HMP Cookham Wood. You will oversee offender workers as they prepare and cook nutritious meals for the whole prison, while helping them gain skills and qualifications for work after release.

Shifts run outside 7am to 7pm, including weekends and bank holidays; the role is in an industrial kitchen with no late evenings. DBS and security checks apply.

Qualifications

• Level 2 certificate in food production within hospitality and catering.
• Level 2 food hygiene certificate.
• Level 3 vocational qualification or willingness to work towards it.
• HACCP refresher training completed every three years.

Responsibilities

• Oversee offender workers preparing and cooking nutritious meals for the whole prison.
• Prepare and cook quality meals in an industrial kitchen.
• Support offenders to learn new skills and gain qualifications.
• Manage shifts including 7am-7pm, weekends and public holidays.
