To supervise & co-ordinate the effective operation of the Charity Shop & kitchen within the Café/Coffee Shop, with responsibility for supervising employees and volunteers to ensure a high standard of customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure good quality food, presentation, and services are provided to Café customers, including for special events or functions, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  2. Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner to gauge satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.
  3. Lead in the preparation, cooking, and serving of nutritious meals and refreshments, planning menus that consider dietary needs, preferences, and customer feedback.
  4. Assist the Corps Officer in maintaining food supplies and equipment, liaising with suppliers to ensure value for money, working within budgets, and minimizing wastage. This includes using a car for purchasing and online ordering.
  5. Open and close premises, ensuring safety for volunteers and customers, overseeing kitchen hygiene, and handling cashing up procedures.
The successful candidate(s) will demonstrate:
  • High standards of safety, cleanliness, and food hygiene, complying with health and safety regulations, and providing training as needed.
  • Assist in managing and supervising employees and volunteers in accordance with policies, including financial recording, service quality, and supporting volunteers' needs, maintaining GDPR-compliant records.
  • Level 2 Food & Hygiene certification or willingness to obtain it.
  • Full driving licence and access to a car.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of food hygiene, including BFH and COSHH requirements.
  • Experience supervising in a retail food environment.

Note: Full training on Salvation Army systems will be provided.
