A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Catering Retail Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of catering services at a hospital. The role involves managing a team, ensuring food safety and hygiene standards, and providing high-quality service to patients and staff. Candidates should have supervisory experience in catering and a passion for food service.
We are looking for a key departmental catering supervisor towork within the organisation, with responsibility for the forward planning anddevelopment of the restaurants, coffee shops and hospitality elements atDarlington Memorial Hospital within Synchronicity Care Limited (SCL).
The post holder will build strong relationships and trust,taking teams on a journey to find solutions and identify opportunities to drivesales and efficiencies for restaurants, coffee shops and hospitality.
You will havecatering experience and, ideally, a catering commercial background with a broadrange of experience and skills across the range of supervisory disciplines.
You will enjoy working in a fast-pacedenvironment, be organised and resourceful and be able to thinkoperationally whilst having an eye fordetail. You will have a clear passion for the retail catering sector and possessexcellent listening, collaboration and facilitation skills. You will be able tobring everyone together whilst ensuring we deliver to the highest standards andachieve the best outcomes for the organisation with patients, staff andvisitors at the heart of our decisions
The Catering Retail Supervisor is responsible for the dailysupervision of staffing and service delivery of the Retail Services atDarlington Memorial Hospital within prescribed budgetary limits, providing acomprehensive, high quality, cost effective and safe service to patients, staffand visitors and external contracts which is responsive to their changingneeds.
You will provide day-to-day supervisor of retail operationalstaff and ensure that all retail and hospitality services within SCL aredeveloped and maintained to meet and excel present and future expectations andto ensure commercial profitability of all retail outlets and strive to exceedfinancial targets.
The post holder will undertake the recruitment, selection,welfare, absence, performance, resolution and disciplinary procedures relatingto staff. They will ensure effective induction programmes are undertaken and beresponsible for ongoing staff training and development.
The Catering Supervisor will ensure the higheststandards of food hygiene safety, food quality, cleanliness standards,leadership and health & safety are achieved and that these standards aremaintained through the development of monitoring systems
SCL is a wholly owned subsidiary of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT) set up to deliver a range of non-clinical services The company is a separate legal body to CDDFT.

Bank work is offered on an 'as and when' basis with no guaranteed hours and will be paid on a pro-rata hourly rate for hours worked only
In conjunction with the Catering Retail Manager responsiblefor ensuring retail users are offered a choice or nutritious meals and snacks,appropriate for their health needs and religious dietary requirement whilstensuring that all national policies relating to NHS Catering are adhered to.
With support from the Catering Retail Manager ability toanalyse sales figures and forecasting future sales volumes to maximise profitsand knowledge for analysing and interpreting trends to facilitate futureplanning.
Ensure food service and production complies with all currentpolicies and procedures including Critical Control Point 6 (CCP) within HACCPand control of allergens.
Ensure high standards of food service from point of purchaseto meal preparation, cooking and service, ensuring quality control processthroughout.
Proactively manage to ensure high standards of cleanlinessand working practises are maintained within areas of control to ensure foodhygiene regulations are met at all times.
Report promptly and take action to investigate and addressfood hygiene safety breaches, including the failure of monitoring systems,policies, procedures, equipment and human error.
Provide a safe physical working environment for all staff,patients and visitors within areas.
Ensure equipment is properly maintained and serviced andorders aids via Cardea to maintain staff safety such as clothing and personalprotective equipment.
Ensure regular updates are carried out in guidance to therequirements of EHO inspections.
To manage the retail stores ensuring that products arepurchased in a timely manner to the correct specification and price.
Ensure effective stock ordering receipting and authorisingusing the Cardea ordering system.
To ensure that all retail areas including vending arecompliant with all CQUIN targets and documented evidence is produced.
Keeping accurate financial records ensuring best value isachieved.
Acting on data from the clerical office responsible for themonitoring of price changes to existing contracts with external suppliers.
In conjunction withthe Catering Retail Manager have involvement in developing monitoring systems,policies, procedures to ensure quality control and carrying out riskassessments and action planning to manage risk.
In conjunction with the Catering Retail Manager implementeffective management arrangements that ensures SCL/CDDS secures maximum qualityand value for money from the Services operated under a Facilities Managementagreement
Responsible for the maintenance of theInformation Asset Register and be aware of the General Data ProtectionRegulations (GDPR)
