Job summary

The Education Authority is seeking a Catering Manager to lead the day-to-day running of school kitchens, serving children, young people and staff. You will supervise the catering team, manage stock, ensure HACCP compliance and maintain high safety and quality standards.

Strong leadership, planning and communication skills are essential to deliver a customer-focused catering service in an educational setting.

Qualifications

• Hold NVQ level 2 in food preparation and cooking or City & Guilds 706-1 & 706-2 or equivalent or have two years’ demonstrable catering experience.
• Evidence of effective supervision or management of a catering team.
• Demonstrable experience in stock control, budget management and financial controls.
• HACCP knowledge and experience with special diets and allergens.
• Willingness to undertake job-related training and access to suitable transport.

Responsibilities

• Execute cooking activities and menu planning, including special diets and texture modifications.
• Organise and supervise all aspects of food service and meal transportation if required.
• Manage dining centre and production kitchens and ensure safe operation of equipment.
• Maintain allergen records and HACCP compliance; monitor temperatures and records.
• Oversee deliveries, stock, ordering, storage and wastage control.
• Promote the catering service to parents, principals and pupils to increase uptake.
• Establish communication with the school on service quality and delivery.
