Job description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Catering Manager to join the team at St Michael Abbey School, helping to coordinate day-to-day activities within the kitchen and ensure quality services are provided to students and staff.

Job Overview

You will be responsible for managing the catering team to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and innovative food provision for pupils, staff, and visitors. The role involves maintaining, developing, and striving to improve standards in food delivery, health and safety compliance, and cost effectiveness for all food delivery requirements and events as needed.

Responsibilities include assisting with school menu planning, food preparation and cooking, and working within a wider team to ensure catering services are carried out efficiently on a daily basis, including stock control and working within a set budget.

Job Requirements
  1. Minimum Level 2 award in Food Safety
  2. Previous experience in catering for large numbers in a supervisory role
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  4. Awareness of Health and Safety, COSHH, dietary and allergen requirements
  5. Commitment to providing a high-quality and consistent catering service with the ability to work within a busy environment
  6. Experience of working within a school environment is beneficial but not essential
