What you'll be doing:

The overall purpose of this role is to organise and supervise the unit in accordance with the standards required by Compass Group UK & Ireland, the contract specification, and statutory regulations. You will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of the unit, providing a quality service. This includes overseeing the preparation, cooking, and service of food to agreed standards and specifications, and ensuring the resources, including stock, team members, and assets, are used efficiently and economically.

We are seeking an experienced Catering Manager. As an independent school contract, this role offers a desirable work/life balance. The main facilities are of a high standard, and the client is proactive and supportive of the catering team. The current FOH team has good experience and local knowledge to help you settle into the role.

Who you are:

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing guidance and strategic management of the business through your team.
• Communicating, motivating, and guiding your management team and staff daily, setting clear responsibilities, and monitoring performance.
• Taking overall responsibility for food and health & safety procedures in the college catering department.
• Communicating regularly with the bursar, headmaster, and academic staff.
• Completing action plans based on pupil/staff satisfaction surveys.
• Promoting the unit and acting as a Chartwells/Compass advocate.
• Ensuring all hospitality is delivered to standard and seeking feedback.
• Being present during meal times to ensure quality and enjoyment.
• Identifying opportunities to enhance and develop the service, discussing ideas with your line manager.
• Introducing innovation and flair to keep the service engaging.
• Monitoring budgets and trends, and taking corrective actions when necessary.
• Ensuring all customer requirements are met in line with expectations.
