Catering Manager

Location: New College Swindon, NorthStar Campus, SN2 1DY
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with occasional Saturdays
Contract: Permanent | Term-time only - 42 working weeks per year
Salary: £28,800 per annum

Are you a passionate and experienced catering professional ready to take the lead in a dynamic educational environment? We're looking for a proactive Catering Manager to head up our food service at New College Swindon's NorthStar Campus.

This is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact by delivering fresh, nutritious meals and outstanding customer service to students and staff in a friendly and supportive setting.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Leading daily kitchen operations, preparing a variety of hot and cold food for breakfast and lunch services.
  • Managing grab & go and deli-style offerings, with a strong focus on quality, consistency, and portion control.
  • Taking ownership of food standards, minimising waste, and maintaining compliance with all guidelines.
  • Overseeing hospitality events and ensuring adherence to brand and recipe standards.
  • Managing stock control: placing orders, receiving deliveries, and conducting stocktakes.
  • Supporting financial performance with budget tracking and reporting.
  • Leading, coaching, and inspiring a small kitchen team to reach high standards.
  • Ensuring excellent customer service and handling any complaints effectively and professionally.
  • Supporting across both campuses when required.

What We're Looking For:

  • A relevant culinary or cookery qualification.
  • Proven experience managing catering operations, ideally in a school, college, or similar environment.
  • Strong team leadership and kitchen management skills.
  • Sound financial understanding with experience in stock control and P&L awareness.
  • A proactive, hands-on leader who can motivate and develop their team.
  • Full DBS clearance and the ability to pass all necessary security checks.
