Job summary

Watford House Care Home in High Peak is seeking a Chef on a contract to deliver nutritious, high quality meals for our 36‑resident home. You will tailor menus to dietary needs and maintain hygiene and presentation to a high standard.

The role offers a strong work–life balance with no late evenings or split shifts, alternate weekends, and benefits such as DBS payment, pension, and uniform. You will work as part of a supportive team, contributing to menu planning and kitchen organisation.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or equivalent, or working towards
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
• Experience in a professional kitchen environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A positive and reliable approach

Job description

Our residential home is in the beautiful High Peak, providing high quality Residential, Respite and Dementia care for 36-residents.

Chef Contract

• From £13.50 DOE per hour
• Contracted to 32 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As a Chef, you will deliver high quality, nutritious and enjoyable meals that are a key part of daily life. This is a role where your cooking has real impact, bringing comfort, routine and enjoyment while supporting overall wellbeing.

You will take ownership of food preparation and service, ensuring meals are tailored to individual dietary needs, preferences and nutritional requirements. Maintaining high standards of presentation, hygiene and food safety, you will consistently deliver meals that residents look forward to each day.

Working as part of a supportive team, you will contribute to menu planning, kitchen organisation and smooth day to day service. With no late evenings or split shifts, this role offers a strong work life balance while still allowing you to take pride in producing high quality food in a rewarding environment.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.
