We require proactive and hardworking staff to work as part of a team within the Food Production department at our Central Production Unit at City Campus and Receipt and Distribution Unit at the QMC Campus. The Catering Clerk role is key to the Food Production department in ensuring all meal and food & beverages for our patients are issued recorded accurately using our electronic ordering system.
The post holder will be responsible for producing, printing and recording catering supplies requested by the wards using an ICT software package.
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation and information for all catering supplies and to ensure the service of all types of food and beverage is given to the expected standards required of the department.
All duties carried out by the employee will be in accordance with the Trust's policy on the health and safety and in line with current standing financial instructions.

The use of the catering software to monitor and record all catering food issued to the wards
To print patient meal orders documents twice a day and to issue to the relevant teams and areas.
To receive orders of additional food from wards, record and relay the information to the Production team.
To accurately record all food and drinks items issued to the Patients Meals Service
To input all food items, drink items & stock transfers that are issued to the Patients Meals Service into the catering software and other records
To produce reports using the catering software for the Catering team and management when required
To keep the catering software up to date with menu changes, products and costs.
To use other software systems to report and record information
To carry out general administration duties for Food Production including taking orders over the phone, taking and passing on messages, managing stationary, printing documents & labels and photocopying
Answering the telephone in a courteous and helpful manner
To communicate with wards and departments notifying them of any changes to the service.
Control the efficient and effective use of resources.
Reporting any premises and equipment faults to their line manager/supervisor
To maintain a safe working environment in relation to office area
To maintain confidentiality when privy to sensitive information in the office.
