Vertas Group is seeking a dedicated Chef to join the Catering team at High Lodge, Thetford, Suffolk. The role involves preparing and serving food, working 30 hours per week across 4 days, including weekends and holidays, on a rota.

You will contribute to high standards of food quality and customer service while adhering to safety and hygiene practices. This position requires a genuine passion for food and teamwork.

About the Role:

Based at High Lodge, Thetford, Suffolk, IP27 0AF you will be working 30 hours a week from 8:00am - 16:00pm, 4 days a week on a rota basis which includes weekends, school holidays and bank holidays. You'll play a key role in preparing and serving high-quality food that meets our standards and delights our customers.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Food preparation: handling day-to-day duties and ensuring dishes meet site standards.
• Cooking and service: managing your station and delivering food on time.
• Safety and hygiene: following best practices with equipment, utensils, and food storage.
• Stock management: keeping ingredients fresh and reordering stock, when supplies run low.
• Cleaning.
• Teamwork: collaborating with the culinary team to maintain quality and service throughout the shift.

Who are we looking for?

• Proven chef experience.
• Knowledge of cooking methods and processes, with the ability to multitask under pressure.
• Baking experience preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Food hygiene certification at Level 2 (desirable).
